Michael Ballack urges Eden Hazard to push through Real Madrid move

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack believes Eden Hazard should be more assertive with his desire to leave the Blues at the end of the season. The Belgium international has regularly flirted with the idea of joining Real Madrid over the past 12 months and the speculation has intensified of late with the attacker reluctant to pen a new contract.

In a report covered by Bild, Ballack highlighted that Hazard has been a bit too calm with regards to his future and he would prefer the Belgian asserting his demands on the west London side, he said: “In my opinion he is a little bit too calm, especially at Chelsea. There should be more demanding and expressing of his wishes. He can do that because he is in an outstanding position. “If he wants to win more titles with Chelsea, something has to happen otherwise Eden Hazard will think about looking for another opportunity.”

Hazard currently has 18 months remaining on his contract with the west London club and so far, he has shown no indication of extending the deal further. Should the standoff continue, the Blues are likely to consider his sale during the summer with Real Madrid tipped to place a tempting offer on the table.

Chelsea have endured another mixed campaign in the Premier League this term and their prospects of finishing in the top four appear far from certain amid the current run of form. The Capital outfit had a handy six-point gap over Arsenal for the fourth position at one stage but they have dropped off to fifth on goal difference with successive defeats.

As such, the pressure has been placed right on manager Maurizio Sarri whose future could be hanging in the balance with the team conceding six goals in the past two games without reply. The Blues’ most recent defeat came against Bournemouth by an embarrassing 4-0 scoreline. The result was their worst in the top-flight in more than two decades.
