Michael Ballack is quite surprised with the way the Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is using his players in the ongoing season.
The former German player reckons that the playmaker Juan Mata should start for the Blues more often than not. Leaving him out on the bench in most of the matches is just ridiculous.
Mata had been a regular starter for Chelsea in the past years and he was an important part of their squad coming into this campaign as well. He was believed to be an automatic pick in their starting XI before the start of the ongoing season, but, that hasn’t quite happened. The Spaniard has been left out too many times and it has taken a lot of football experts by surprise.
It’s true that Mata’s form hasn’t been that good this season, but, the kind of player he is and the way he has performed in the past, he deserves a bit of backing from the management.
In the 2013-14 Season, Mata has been included in the starting XI of Chelsea in just about 10 league matches. The 25 years old midfielder hasn’t found the net in any of those games, but, he has set up goals a couple of times.
When asked how Jose Mourinho is going about his business at Stamford Bridge, Ballack said, “He is clearly not doing everything tactically right. He can utilize his frontline options and also Mata in a better way.”
Ballack had played for Chelsea for a few years towards the end of his career. He had been at Stamford Bridge for 4 years to be precise. In that duration, he played more than 100 league matches for the Blues and scored 17 goals.
He finished his club career at Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
