Michael Ballack has said that Chelsea can win the Premier League title in the next season under the guidance of their new manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has recently signed a 4-year deal with Chelsea. This will be his second tenure at Stamford Bridge. His first tenure for the Blues was four years long and was a successful one. The Blues won the Premier League title a couple of times in those 4 years.
When asked about Mourinho’s appointment as Chelsea manager, Ballack said, “Jose had fantastic times with Chelsea during his last tenure. He is loved by the supporters there and that’s why, he was so eager to go back there.”
“I reckon Chelsea has a good chance of winning the Premier League next season. They have a lot of quality and experience in the side, but, they weren’t managed that well in the last season. Now, with Jose’s comeback, they will be hard to beat.”
“Also, it would not be easy for Manchester United to move forward without Sir Alex Ferguson. It would be interesting to see how David Moyes goes about his job.”
“I think, in the next season, there will be close fight between Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.”
Ballack was also a part of Chelsea for 4 years between 2006 and 2010. It was Mourinho who had bought him from Bayern Munich in 2006.
Ballack played under Mourinho for a couple of seasons before the latter left Chelsea to join Internazionale.
When asked about the experience of playing under Mourinho, Ballack said, “It was wonderful playing under him. He is a very passionate manager. He remains positive all the time and backs his players.”
Ballack featured for the Blues in 105 matches and scored 17 goals.
