BALLACK BACKS YOUTH

Former captain of Germany, Michael Ballack, has said that there are some great, young talents in the German national team at the moment and that’s why, the fans have huge expectations of the team.

Ballack has recently announced his retirement from professional football. His contract with Bayer Leverkusen ended at the end of the last season and Leverkusen released him. There were speculations that Ballack might be signing for an MLS team, but, that didn’t happen and Ballack decided to hang his boots.

When asked how hard the decision of retirement was, Ballack said, “It was the toughest decision of my life, but, a player has to make this decision at some point of time and I felt that it was the right time for me. I played football for 18 years and was very lucky to have got the opportunity to play alongside some great players.”

When asked if he is missing his playing days, Ballack said, “Yes, I am missing those wonderful days. It’s not easy to suddenly turn into a spectator from an active player.”

When asked about the current German national team, Ballack said, “Our current national squad is pretty young and inexperienced, but, pretty talented as well. There are some raw talents in the team at the moment. All I can say is that the future of German football is in good hands.”

When asked about the poor performance of Germany in the Euro Cup, Ballack said, “That was a poor tournament for us, but, there are a few new faces in the squad now and I think Germany would do well in the future tournaments.”
When asked about his future plans, Ballack said, “I am yet to decide anything about my future. I want to give some time to my family and after that, I will take any decision about my future.”
