After failing to agree terms with the MLS club Montreal Impact, the former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been linked with a move to Red Bull Salzburg. It has become the biggest story in recent weeks after it has emerged that Red Bull Salzburg are very keen on completing the transfer of Michael Ballack.

The 35-year-old midfielder is available on a free transfer after having seen his contract rundown at German club Bayern Leverkusen last season. He has been discussing terms with a number of potential clubs in the last few months, but Michael Ballack is yet to announce his next destination.

He has made his admiration to play in the United States public, but it is thought that the huge wage demands of the former Bayern Munich midfielder has been the chief reason for his move to the MLS club not being completed as of now. As a result, Red Bull Salzburg are willing to take advantage of this situation. The manager of the club Roger Smith has said that he would like to bring Michael Ballack to the club. Rangnick Houllier, who is at the club, has also said that Michael Ballack is a player of immense quality and someone who will improve the squad.

“Michael is interesting. A very great player. One has to examine whether fit the financial environment. If the price is right, he may come to us. We want players who significantly enhance our quality. This he must do, however, only a picture of the squad. After that, however he was willing to improve the quality of the squad. I’m going to make me a picture. Only when this stage is completed, I can truly say where action is needed,” said Rangnick Houllier in response to the transfer speculation linking his club with Michael Ballack.
